Two years of hard work have paid off with the groundbreaking of the Northumberland Public Library Park on Wednesday, July 24.

Tucked behind the library, the new space will feature leisurely paths leading through gardens and benches for quiet relaxation with a favorite book.

“I’m so excited about the opportunity to expand outside our walls of the building and grow this into a place where we can grow opportunities,” said library director Jane Blue.

The work, to be completed by Tyler Fryman and Bennett Facilities and Fleet, is expected to begin in the coming weeks with the “pocket park” to be completed by next summer.
